Question:

When I installed the program I received a message that one of the programs being installed is older than the one on my computer.

Answer:

The program installs a version of the Rich Text Box the version is the one that developers receive.

Multiple versions of this control exist for different platforms and programs, the one that this program uses is a version compatible with all of them. The current version of this control remains on your computer and the older version installed in the pdcMe1 location.

Question:

The program was unable to install portions of the program and prompted me to by pass a portion of the installation.

Answer:

The reason for this problem is that some of the controls were in use when you installed the program. In most instances this will not be a problem because the controls are identical. If you have a problem with the program uninstall pdcEssentialsMe1 and reinstall the program to solve the problem. Make sure that you shutdown all of the running programs including anti virus protection and crash protection.

Question:

When I try to input information a small box appears and then the program shuts down. Help what can I do?

Answer:

This problem occurs when a file becomes corrupt or deleted. The problem can also occur when the program is not installed improperly. To solve the problem call pdc for help or do the following.

1. Make a backup of your files.

2. Uninstall pdc Essentials.

3. Remove the file C:\pdcme1.

4. Reinstall the pdc Essentials program.

5. Copy your file from the backup.

Note: Some information can be lost using this method. The best solution is to call pdc for help, the service is free.

Question:

When I load some picture files in the print and edit section the computers lock up completely.

Answer:

On some computers with a small amount of memory or when three or four programs are running this will happen. The problem sometimes results from the picture format being in bmp. Format. To use the picture load it into an editor and change the picture format to gif. This will reduce the size of the file.

Question:

The beam calculation in the calculator is much higher than when I calculate the same by hand.

Answer:

The beam calculation includes the weight of the beam in the calculation. Check the reaction on each end of the beam and then add in the weight of the beam, you will see that the calculation is correct.

Question:

The Phone Company in my area now requires that I dial the area code when making local calls. Can I set up the Phone Center to accomplish this.

Answer:

Yes this is easy to accomplish just follow the instructions.

1. Click to activate the Phone Center

2. Click on Tools on the menu bar

3. Click on Phone Properties

4. When the setup menu appears select Area Code under Location Setup

5. Input the letter "A " in front of your area code. Example: "A614"

6. Click on Save to save the changes.

7. Click on Exit
